Setting up appropriate equipment

I used Canon 7D camera because it's a professional equipment which is used to achieve the best quality picture. It's full of different setting which are going to use such as there are a big range of different apertures to make picture sharpen of blur. I think that appropriate and professional equipment is very important for making good promotion photoshoots.
The lenses which were used are 88 mm and 50mm. We used a range of lenses to develop our images and be able to make close ups when it's needed and portraits.

We used a special bag for all the equipment to follow safety working practice and to protect the equipment of any hazards which can appeal during production process.

Following safe working practice

Before the photoshoot I completed the risk assessment table in order to be able to follow it.
In order to protect the equipment (camera and lenses) I used special bag. It helped to keep the camera safe during the carrying it to the studio.
In order to protect staff from the fire hazard we had a fire door as a part of safety working practice.
If the cast crew didn't turn up I would use a contingency plan:
The photoshoot was made on the 20th of February

The launch date is going to be on 5th of April 2015

That's why we have a plenty of time and we were able to make a contingency date of the photoshoot on the 24th of February if someone from the crew could not turn up.
If we had a damaged equipment we would pay a penalisation to the company where we hired equipment.

Following production processes

Client Approval Meeting:
Following our recent client approval meeting to discuss the improvements to the initial designs my colleagues and would like to confirm that we wish to proceed with the production of the promotional print-based advertisement for the music artist Annie.
However as a result of our discussion and agreements with you we would now like the following alterations to the product
Initial Product Name:
It was felt the initial product name Fly Annie” did not have as strong identity for the new artist and although the idea was to create a distinct style the board members felt that a more stylized and distinctive image and strapline was required for this new artist.
Approved Product Name:
Following very productive design ideas from you we are now happy to proceed with the product name ‘From Russia with love, World Tour ’. The board members are very happy with the retro name and the connotations, which make a direct link between, with the glamorous 1960’s film style.
Product Branding, font style and label design
In collaboration with you and my colleagues we are agreed that we like the nostalgic and retro product packaging of CV covers, bags etc that matches the print advertisement.
We agree on the distinctive font style for the brand name, which makes the product stand out.

Improvements
The board liked the improvements made to the Advertisement which rebranded the artist initial designs from the more run of the mill singer songwriter styling to a distinctive and memorable image. Branding of the artist in this way adds panache, which will draw in a youth market as its target audience.
Budget:
The board members are unanimous that the budget is a reasonable costing for a production of this type and allows the product to achieve the desired outcome, i.e. a stylish, product for a new music artist

P4 (b) Production Plans with Timescales & Budget for Final Ideas

Production Plan

As for other equipment we are going to use Canon 7D camera, tripod and normal lens (80 mm) so there will be covered area which human eye can see. We don't need special lenses because we would like to have our photos as natural looking as it possible. I want to use tripod to have more stable focus so the image will be looked professional.  We want to use Canon 7D camera because it's a professional equipment which is used to achieve the best quality picture. It's full of different setting which are going to use such as there are a big range of different apertures to make picture sharpen of blur. I think that appropriate and professional equipment is very important for making good promotion photoshoots.

For the costumes I decided to use casual clothe style as Annie should look similar to her target audience. Also as the posters will be made in the 60s style the props have to look similar to these time.

For special prop we added a black hat for the model as it made her style look more interesting and also Russia military coat as Annie represented world tour From Russia With Love that's why her style should be related to the Russian style.

Annie is going to hold a guitar to demonstrate that all the songs were made by her.

To find the examples of the possible positions of the models during the photoshoot I surfed the Internet and found some pictures which I think will be suitable for our photoshoot.
Below we can see some of them:

For the location for our photoshoot for the advertising campaign of Annie world tour "From Russia with love" we choose to make a photoshoot in the professional studio.
In the studio we had perfect conditions for the photoshoot such as lighting and all the equipment which we needed.
The studio is located in Kent College in Canterbury.

Tasks

Annie - Model, costumes, props
Elizaveta - photographer, lighting, editing
Maria - photographer, editing, makeup , props

Budget

We have to produce 1500 poster before the April'15.
These number of posters should be produced at the same date as I would be able to use economy of scale and the price for posters will be cheaper.
Posters will be made in A3 format.

Table is taken from : http://www.alocalprinter.co.uk/uk/posters/

As we can see on the table the Alocalprinter company is making 1500 A3 posters for £237.

Budget for photoshoot

For the photoshoot we also have to pay.
We need to hire the property for the one day photoshoot (professional studio with lighting) and hire the equipment.
The professional studio is going cost £450 per one day of the photoshoot.
The price of the camera will be £80 per one day with lenses. (Information is taken from http://www.hireacamera.com/cameras/detail.asp?model=1034)

I broke down the pricing and made up the overall budget from the Poster Print Production and costs for the photoshoot.
The overall budget is going to be :
Poster Production - £237
Photoshoot - £450 for studio + £80 for camera with lenses = £530
£237+£530=£767

Copyright/ ASA

While we were planning the print based advertisement we should consider any legal or ethnical issues which might have an impact on the advertisement. I decided to look at Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) website in the UK. It's an independent regulator across all media. They are taking the actions against the misleading, harmful and offensive advertisements.
The UK Advertising Codes are written by two industry committees: the Committee of Advertising Practice writes the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing and the Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice (BCAP) writes the UK Code of Broadcast Advertising.
Everyone is able to complain on any advertisements which might breach some Codes.
Information is taking from : http://www.asa.org.uk

Advert is made for the sales promotion purpose. The definition and the the codes for the sales promotion we can see below:

A sales promotion can provide an incentive for the consumer to buy by using a range of added direct or indirect benefits, usually on a temporary basis, to make the product more attractive. A non-exhaustive list of sales promotions includes: “two for the price of one” offers, money-off offers, text-to-wins, instant-wins, competitions and prize draws. The rules do not apply to routine, non-promotional, distribution of products or product extensions, for example one-off editorial supplements (in printed or electronic form) to newspapers or magazines.
Our artist is represented as a romantic girl. Her public image is the teenager hero who understands teenagers problems such as first love, school problems, dreams etc.
This kind of artists are very popular and there are a lot of artists who follow this image. But we have to protect Annie from the copyright problems.
There is a copyright law in the UK:
3. Types of work protected
1) Literary  song lyrics, manuscripts, manuals, computer programs, commercial documents, leaflets, newsletters & articles etc.

2) Dramatic  plays, dance, etc.

3) Musical  recordings and score.

 4) Artistic  photography, painting, sculptures, architecture, technical drawings/diagrams, maps, logos.

5) Typographical arrangement of published editions magazines, periodicals, etc.

6) Sound recording may be recordings of other copyright works, e.g. musical and literary.

7) Film  video footage, films, broadcasts and cable programmes.

As we can see, the sound records, music and the artist has to be protected by the governors so it we find out that someone copies Annie's style we can make a complain on them according to this law.
Our poster should also be protected. We put Annie's image on it so it cannot be copied without her permission. Also we will put special label on our poster so people would know wether it's real or not.

Production Scheldule

The photoshoot with our singer is going to be in the professional studio in Kent College in Canterbury. The photoshoot will last one day on the 1st of April on order to have enough time to edit the images and print the posters.
If the model will not be able to do the photoshoot this date we will move the date earlier after the last approval meeting with the client.

For the production process itself I took 5 days from 10th to 15th April.
I have to come to the company which will print the posters and bring them the electronic variations of my posters. Later they need two days to print this amount of the posters. Later, I will have two days in order to check all the posters and make the last changing in case if something goes wrong.
